    Weiguo Shen , Male, was born in Shanghai in 1949. Shen graduated from Lanzhou University in 1976, and obtained his Master of Science degree from the University in 1981 and PhD degree from Canterbury University of New Zealand in 1988 respectively. He did his post doctoral research at UCLA from 1988 to 1990. He worked as an associate professor, professor, deputy chairman of the Chemistry Department, assistant president, vice-president and standing vice-president and dean of the graduate school of Lanzhou University successively after his returning to China in 1991.

    Concurrently he is vice director of the Thermo-chemistry and Thermo-analysis Specialty Committee of China Chemistry Society, also a standing director and the chairman of the Chemistry Society of Gansu Province, a member of the 8th and 9th discipline evaluation panel of the National Natural Science Foundation, the vice director of the Scientific and Technological Progress Prize Evaluation Committee of Gansu Province, a member of the China Universities’ Discipline Directorial Committee on Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, the vice chairman of the National Research Association on Study Abroad, a standing director of the National Universities’ Research Association on HR Management, a director of National Degree and Graduate Education Society and the chairman of Gansu Province’s Degree and Graduate Education Society.

Major Teaching and Research Achievements:
    Dr. Shen has published over 100 academic papers on various journals including JPC and JCP. He has been awarded a first class provincial/ministerial level scientific and technological progress prize and a second class natural science prize as well as a number of provincial/ministerial level teaching achievement prizes.

    National Young/Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contribution in 1999.

Major Research Fields:
    chemical thermodynamics and physical chemistry of complex fluid, and critical phenomenon.
