
Baoqi Chen, Role Model Student at ECUST: Outstanding Contributions to Social Work
Baoqi Chen, an undergraduate majoring in Social Work at the School of Social and Public Administration, ECUST, has recently gained widespread attention for her achievements.
She has been committed to advancing social development while providing support for those in need. Through her academic pursuits, practical engagement, and service to others, she has exemplified the responsibility and dedication of youth. She has now been provisionally admitted to Peking University for graduate studies.
Admitted to the university through a special recruitment program for students from disadvantaged regions, Baoqi Chen has demonstrated remarkable academic diligence.
During her three years of rigorous study, she ranked first in her major in both comprehensive evaluations and academic performance, won the National Scholarship for three consecutive years, and received nearly 20 awards, including the Gold Prize in the National Collegiate New Liberal Arts Practical Innovation Competition and the Special Prize in the Luyou Cup National Competition. She also published multiple papers and presented her findings at national-level forums, marking her academic and personal growth.
In practice, Baoqi Chen has immersed herself deeply in the field of social work. She has participated in seven social practice projects and four professional internships, accumulating over 1,000 hours of volunteer service. Through volunteer teaching in the rural areas of Heilongjiang, Hunan, and Yunnan, she used her professional skills to bring hope to children.
Her involvement has ranged from pediatric palliative care at the Children’s Hospital of Fudan University to community-based “Silver-Haired E-Classrooms” and HIV/AIDS awareness outreach initiatives. Across all these endeavors, she has consistently worked to protect the vulnerable while empowering communities to thrive. Her practice efforts have been featured in provincial-level media.

As President of the University Youth Volunteer Association and Class Monitor, Baoqi Chen has coordinated volunteer services for international events such as the China International Import Expo. Relevant services involve over 20,000 participants that contributed more than 30,000 service hours. She has also been engaged in fostering class cohesion and mentoring incoming students, extending warmth and support through her actions.
Looking ahead, Baoqi Chen will uphold the university motto of “Diligence, Factuality, Aspiration and Virtue”, embrace the human-centered values of social work, conduct research that responds to real-world needs and contribute to society through her professional commitment.
