Delegation of the University of Cambridge Visited ECUST
Recently, a delegation from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Cambridge, led by Professor Colm Durkan who is the Dean of the Faculty, and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, visited ECUST.
Weihong Zhu, Vice President of ECUST met with the delegation. Xiaopeng Li, Dean of the College of International Education, and Jimin Tang, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, also attended the meeting.

Zhu extended a warm welcome to the Cambridge delegation and outlined the recent progress and research achievements of ECUST. He noted that since 2020, ECUST has launched the course “Neural Networks and Deep Learning” in collaboration with professors from the University of Cambridge.
Each year, the university facilitates the participation of Chinese and international students in the Cambridge Summer Research Programme, which has enrolled 240 students to date. In August 2023, the two universities signed a Memorandum of Understanding, aiming to further deepen cooperation in joint research, course co-development, and the collaborative development of international talent.
Professor Durkan remarked that this was his first visit to ECUST, and that he was deeply impressed by the university’s research accomplishments and the academic vibrancy of its faculty and students.
Professor Durkan expressed his expectation of further strengthening the collaborative ties between the two universities and laying a solid foundation for future substantive cooperation in top-tier research personnel exchanges and joint student training.
During the partnership discussion, the two sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on joint summer camps and advanced workshops for innovative talent. The delegation also visited the Feringa Nobel Prize Scientist Joint Research Center.
Following the meeting, Professor Durkan held an interactive Q&A session with ECUST faculty and students, offering advice on academic pursuits and career development for engineering students.
