ECUST Expanded Global Engagement and International Cooperation Over the Past Five Years
Over the past five years, aligned with national strategic priorities, ECUST has expanded its educational platforms, mobilized global resources for development, and enhanced its global influence through comprehensive international exchanges and cooperation.
Expanding the Global Network
To optimize its global partnership layout, ECUST signed 120 high-level agreements, added 49 new partners, and established collaborative relationships with 9 top 200 global universities.

Approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology, ECUST established the “Innovation Base for Talent Recruitment and Intelligence Introduction in Pollutant Emission Reduction and Resource Utilization” and the “Innovation Base of Low-Carbon Energy and Chemical Engineering” to attract top global scientists. Furthermore, the university co-established joint research centers with institutions such as Utrecht University and the University of Aveiro, building a high-level international research network.
Enhancing International Educational Influence
ECUST has significantly expanded its international education programs. In the Middle East, it launched the “Future Stars” program, signing cooperation agreements with Saudi Aramco and the Presidential Court of the United Arab Emirates to enroll over 80 scholarship students. In Europe, the university collaborated with BorsodChem in Hungary and upgraded the Sino-European School of Management in Romania to provide postgraduate education, supporting the Belt and Road Initiative.

ECUST joined the Ministry of Education’s “China-Arab Universities 10+10 Cooperation Plan” and the “China-ASEAN Thousand Universities Cooperation Plan.” The university launched China’s first international joint multi-degree program for international students, establishing 6 fully English-taught undergraduate majors and 167 English-taught courses. Five courses were recognized as Shanghai Demonstration Courses, and faculty members received first prizes in municipal teaching innovation competitions. International students have won more than 40 prizes in national-level competitions, further enhancing the “Study at ECUST” brand.
Revitalizing Collaborative Talent Cultivation
To integrate global educational resources, ECUST partnered with institutions like the National University of Singapore and Cornell University for joint programs. Deepened partnerships with the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge have advanced core courses for “internationalization at home.” Sino-French cooperation flourished through a partnership with the Fédération Gay-Lussac, facilitating bilateral student exchanges. Additionally, ECUST collaborated with 12 Fortune Global 500 companies to establish the Sino-French Engineering Education Council, advancing industry-university-research collaboration.
ECUST also achieved notable results in programs for students from Hong Kong, Macao, and the Taiwan. ECUST hosted the “Macao High School Students STEM Technology and Culture Summer Camp” and executed summer internship programs.
Through platform building, ECUST hosted the “2024 International Conference on Industry-Academia-Research-Application Cooperation (Shanghai).” The university invited Nobel laureates and foreign academicians to deliver over 400 academic lectures, recruiting 36 internationally renowned scholars and appointing 15 overseas visiting professors to accelerate collaborative talent cultivation.
Looking ahead, ECUST will continue to plan its development with a global perspective and deepen cooperation through pragmatic actions. By integrating with the world, the university is advancing steadfastly toward its goal of becoming a “world-class university with multidisciplinary coordinated development and distinctive features.”
