Recently, China’s firstlarge-scale homegrown wet air oxidation (WAO) unit for sulfur-containing wastelye was successfully put into operation at Sinopec Zhenhai Refining &Chemical Company. The unit was jointly developed by ECUST and China Petroleum& Chemical Corporation.
With a treatmentcapacity of 19.5 t/h, the unit fully met all treatment requirements forsulfur-containing waste lye produced by the 10-million-ton oil refining and1-million-ton ethylene integrated refining and chemical unit, and itsperformance exceeded the design specifications.
The successfulcommissioning of the unit marked a new level in China’s clean production oflarge-scale refining and chemical facilities and the localization of high-endenvironmental protection equipment technology.
