​The State Key Laboratory of Bioreactor Engineering (SKLBE) is one of the first national-level key laboratories of China. Founded in 1989 and authorized in 1995, SKLBE was formally opened to the public in 1996 with the approval of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China.

State Key Laboratory of Chemical Engineering‍ was approved in 1987 and completed for operation in 1991. It is the first national-level key laboratory in China in Chemical Engineering. It is also a pioneer in China for conducting organized scientific research based on a collaborative university model in Chemical Engineering.

Established in 1989 and reorganized in December 2022, the State Key Laboratory of Industrial Control Technology (SKLICT) was co-founded by Zhejiang University, East China University of Science and Technology, and Zhejiang SUPCON Technology Co., Ltd.

Approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology in March 2023, the State Key Laboratory of Coal Liquefaction, Gasification and Utilization with High-Efficiency, Low-Carbon Technologies was established through the restructuring of the State Key Laboratory of Coal Liquefaction and Chemical Engineering (affiliated to Shandong Energy Group), in partnership with East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST).

The State Key Laboratory of Green Chemical Engineering and Industrial Catalysis was jointly established by Sinopec Shanghai Research Institute of Petrochemical Technology Co., Ltd. and East China University of Science and Technology with the approval of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China on September 30th, 2015. The State Key Laboratory of Chemical Safety (SKLCS) was jointly established by SINOPEC Research Institute of Safety Engineering Co., Ltd., China University of Petroleum (East China), and East China University of Science and Technology.
