Led by Bob Cryan, President of the University of Huddersfield, a delegation from the university, the British partner of ECUST’s Confucius Institute, paid a visit to ECUST on December 5, 2024. Xuan Fuzhen, President of ECUST, met with the British guests.
After warmly welcoming Bob Cryan and his delegation, Xuan reviewed the practical cooperation between the two universities in the Confucius Institute and the JMD international joint degree program. He noted that since the signing of the agreement to jointly establish the world’s first Science and Technology Innovation Confucius Institute, both universities had expanded their cultural exchanges and deepened scientific innovation, making significant contributions to promoting China-UK educational cooperation and exchanges. He hoped that both sides would take the fifth anniversary of the Confucius Institute as a new starting point, fully leverage their academic and professional strengths, and continuously move towards a new pattern of high-level, broad-field cooperation and exchanges.
Bob Cryan, President of the University of Huddersfield, expressed gratitude for the warm reception from ECUST. He pointed out that the Confucius Institute, as an important achievement of the cooperation between the two universities, had promoted exchanges and interactions among outstanding young scholars from both sides and made significant contributions to the multicultural development of the University of Huddersfield. He hoped to work hand in hand with ECUST to promote win-win development in education and research and establish a new model of China-UK cooperation.
