The concept of theoretical consciousness is a crucial lens for interpreting Zheng Hangsheng’s sociological thought with Chinese characteristics. From the perspective of academic history, this book systematically outlines the theoretical pedigree and ideological essence of Professor Zheng’s sociological theory. It explores four dimensions: an assessment of the current situation and keen perception, the disciplinary mission and discourse transformation, knowledge production and practice, and broadening its application. Through these, the book systematically explains why Zheng became a pioneer, advocate, forerunner, and promoter of theoretical consciousness, and offers a scientific evaluation of the theoretical value and methodological significance of his theoretical consciousness. The ideological legacy of theoretical consciousness has evolved into a collective memory and driving force of contemporary Chinese sociologists. The collective awakening, inheritance and ongoing efforts of the academic community have promoted the production, application and dissemination of China’s independent sociological knowledge system. This has provided robust academic support for narrating the “China Story” while illustrating a vibrant scene where diverse schools of thought coexist, akin to a flourishing of a hundred flowers.
