AI-Enabled Teaching Innovation Showcase Held at ECUST

Recently, ECUST hosted a showcase event on AI-enabled teaching innovation to advance the national strategy for digitalizing education and promote the integration of artificial intelligence into classroom teaching. The event was livestreamed via Tencent Meeting, attracting nearly 140 teachers from ECUST and peer universities both online and offline.

Jianjun Chen, Professor from the School of Mechanical and Power Engineering, shared his exploration of integrating AI tools into classroom teaching. By leveraging generative AI, he demonstrated how to rapidly develop mind maps, knowledge graphs, and standardized intelligent question banks, enabling structured knowledge delivery and real-time learning feedback. His approach highlights a low-cost, high-efficiency model for adopting AI in teaching, effectively addressing common challenges such as fragmented knowledge, delayed feedback, and limited personalized support.

Chuanjie Fan from the School of Chemical Engineering focused on AI applications in teaching the course Chemical Engineering Principles. Drawing on practical experience, he illustrated how multimodal AI tools can generate diagrams, animations, and visual materials to make abstract concepts more accessible. In addition, AI-assisted grading systems were used to enable automated assessment and precise learning analytics, providing targeted insights for improving instruction. He also guided students to apply AI tools together with Python programming to solve real-world engineering problems, thereby cultivating both critical thinking and AI literacy.

As part of this year’s Teaching Innovation Month series, the event showcased ECUST faculty’s active exploration and practical achievements in AI-enhanced teaching. Moving forward, the university will continue to promote the deep integration of AI technologies into teaching to support the high-quality development of undergraduate talent cultivation.
