
Dedication to Translation, Truth-seeking in Practice
Wendi Yu, an undergraduate majoring in English at the School of Foreign Languages, ECUST, currently serves as the class monitor. He received multiple honors, including the National Scholarship, the Cheng Siwei Honorary President Scholarship, the Zhilan Alumni Scholarship, and the title of ECUST Campus Role Model.
He won the Gold Award in the Growth Track of the Second National College Student Career Planning Competition and the National Silver Award in the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition (2025), among more than 20 national and municipal level awards.

As a class monitor, Yu has taken the lead both online and offline. He introduced innovative peer-learning initiatives and turned his academic expertise into a series of short online courses. The lessons he delivered, including Advanced English, have attracted 180,000 views on Bilibili. With vivid explanations, he helped his classmates overcome difficulties in their studies. Under his leadership, the class was awarded the title of “Model Class for Academic Excellence”. He received honors such as the Campus Role Model of 2025 and Outstanding Student Leader.
Daring to step out of his comfort zone and break disciplinary boundaries, Yu focuses on interdisciplinary integration and practical innovation. Through internships at Tuhu Auto Service and Career International, he developed a solid understanding of business operations. As a core member of the National Undergraduate Training Program for Innovation and Entrepreneurship & Student Research Training Program “Caizhixing”, he leveraged his language expertise to support project development and address the needs of international clients.
Drawing on the knowledge gained through these experiences, he participated in a range of business-related competitions and won the National Third Prize in the National College Students’ Entrepreneurial Decision Simulation Competition. These experiences strengthened his ability to bridge language expertise with practical innovation.
Focusing on the practical value of his language major, Yu is committed to professional translation and cultural localization practices. He translated more than 30,000 words of game content during his localization internship and localized over 50 culturally specific references for international audiences to adapt to different cultural contexts. Besides, he also undertook bilingual translation work in technical fields including electric power and chemical engineering, interpreting obscure professional terms with plain and accurate language to eliminate cross-cultural and technical communication barriers.
Guided by his aspiration to facilitate communication in technological innovation, Yu integrates language expertise with interdisciplinary practice, builds efficient communication bridges between China and the world, and exemplifies the dedication and sense of responsibility of today’s young generation.
