Recently, a forum themed “Insights into Global Opportunities and Overseas Market Expansion” was held at the Li Shijin Lecture Hall in the Advanced Materials Building at ECUST. Nearly 100 industry experts and representatives from university alumni associations and chambers of commerce attended the event. Haifeng Yan, Vice President of ECUST, attended the forum and delivered a speech.

Yan delivered a welcome address on behalf of the university and presented a report titled “A New Approach for Chinese Enterprises Going Global: From Product Export to Capacity Export.” He examined strategic investment sectors and changing investment patterns across global manufacturing supply chains. He pointed out that incentives and restrictions now coexist in the global investment landscape, and trade should build production capacity rather than merely satisfy consumption demand. Chinese enterprises need to gradually transition from consumer goods suppliers to industrialization enablers.
Zhang Sheng, Vice Chairman of the Xinxiang Federation of Industry and Commerce, stated in his address that the Belt and Road Initiative has provided broad space for private enterprises to expand into overseas markets. He called for closer cooperation between universities, local governments, and businesses, with chambers of commerce helping to share resources and strengthen industrial collaboration. Gencheng Xiao, Deputy Director of the Xinxiang Municipal Bureau of Commerce, introduced Xinxiang’s development, covering its history and culture, location and transportation, industrial layout, and research and innovation.
Sudin Naik, a former president of the Goa State Industries Association, introduced Goa’s natural and cultural features, mining, tourism, pharmaceutical industry, and digital governance. He expressed hope for deeper exchanges and cooperation between China and India. Zisong Fan, President of ECUST Suzhou Alumni Association, reviewed his entrepreneurial journey and shared his experience in building overseas factories. During the salon dialogue session, several business representatives shared perspectives on the international expansion of Chinese industries.
The forum was initiated by ECUST’s Suzhou Alumni Association and jointly organized by the Xinxiang Xinsu Chamber of Commerce and the Guizhou and Xinyang chambers of commerce in Shanghai. ECUST’s Alumni Association, School of Materials Science and Engineering, and School of Business provided support. The event aimed to broaden the global outlook of alumni and entrepreneurs, explore overseas market opportunities, exchange experience in enterprise internationalization, and support enterprises seeking to expand into overseas markets.
