Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the winners of the Second National Textbook Construction Award. Chemical Reaction Engineering (6th Edition), edited by Professor Bingchen Zhu and Professor Tao Li from ECUST, received the Second Prize for Outstanding Teaching Materials (Higher Education).

The National Textbook Construction Award is China’s highest honor in the field of teaching materials. The award aims to recognize exemplary textbooks, enhance the sense of responsibility and professional pride among textbook developers, and promote the development of a high-quality textbook system with Chinese characteristics.

Chemical Reaction Engineering is a textbook for the chemical engineering and technology discipline. It systematically presents the fundamental principles and engineering applications of chemical reaction engineering, featuring a well-structured content system that integrates theory with practice while emphasizing the cultivation of engineering thinking.

Since its first publication, the textbook has been widely adopted by universities across China and has played an important role in training chemical engineering professionals. Building on the strengths of its previous editions, the sixth edition incorporates advances in teaching and disciplinary development over the past decade, together with digital learning resources, making it better suited to the needs of contemporary higher education.

The award recognizes ECUST’s achievements in textbook development. The University will continue to strengthen the development of high-quality teaching materials and encourage faculty members to produce textbooks that reflect disciplinary strengths and meet evolving educational needs, providing strong support for talent cultivation and high-quality disciplinary development.
