Recently, the 2025 List of World’s Leading Science and Technology Journals was officially released at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Pujiang Innovation Forum. Bioresources and Bioprocessing (BIOB), an academic journal sponsored by ECUST, was selected for the list. The selection recognizes the journal’s academic quality, international influence and editorial and publishing quality, marking another achievement in ECUST’s efforts to develop high-quality international academic journals.
The list evaluates journals based on several key dimensions, including their academic organizational capacity, academic leadership, academic influence, and social impact. It aims to identify scientific and technological journals with high academic standards and international influence. The 2025 list includes 6,132 journals from around the world, of which 353 are from China, accounting for 5.8% of the total. BIOB’s inclusion marks further progress in the journal’s pursuit of high-quality publishing and internationalization.

Founded in 2014, BIOB (CN 31-2230/Q81) is supervised by the Ministry of Education and sponsored by ECUST. It is co-published by the State Key Laboratory of Bioreactor Engineering and Springer Nature, with Professor Jianhe Xu from the School of Biotechnology serving as its founding editor-in-chief. The journal focuses on bioresources, biomanufacturing, biocatalysis, bioprocess engineering and related interdisciplinary fields. It is indexed in major academic databases, including the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE), Scopus, PubMed Central, the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), and the Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD). Its latest impact factor is 6.3, placing it in the first quartile (Q1) of its subject category in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR). In recent years, BIOB has also been selected for the English-language journal program under Phase II of the Excellence Action Plan for China’s Scientific and Technological Journals and included in the core collection of CSCD.
Looking ahead, BIOB will continue to gather high-quality academic resources from China and abroad, strengthen the development and dissemination of high-quality original research, and further enhance its academic leadership and international influence. The journal aims to contribute to scientific innovation and international academic exchange in bioengineering.
