Jingyi Zhu, an undergraduate student at ECUST, and her teammate Mengqi Li claimed gold in the recurve mixed team archery event at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026. The Chinese pair beat India 5-3 in the final, securing not only the gold medal but also a quota place for the LA 2028 Olympics.

The recurve mixed team event features one male and one female archer per team. In each set, the two athletes take turns shooting, and the team with the higher combined arrow score wins two set points, while a tie awards one set point to each side. In the semifinals, Zhu and Li swept South Korea 6-0 before edging India in a hard-fought final spanning all four sets. Their composed performance under pressure secured the long-awaited gold.
Behind their composed performance lay countless hours of training and unwavering determination, reflecting the spirit of ECUST students. Congratulations to Team China and to Jingyi Zhu. May every member of the ECUST community continue striving toward their goals.
